Church Staff

Senior Pastor: Danny Rurlander

DR squareDanny is the Senior Pastor and heads up the staff team and elders.  He is married to Emma and they have four children: Esme, Chloe, Lachlan and Lucy. Danny and Emma both grew up in Kendal and love the Lancaster area.  Danny trained at Moore Theological College in Sydney after which he served in a parish church in Merseyside for three years.

He also teaches doctrine subjects on the North West Ministry Training Course in Leyland.

Danny enjoys good coffee, child-friendly walks in the Lake District, and ticking things off to-do lists.

Assistant Pastor: Gerry Straker

Gerry square just himGerry is the Assistant Minister, and as well as playing a general role as a pastor of the church, he has specific responsibility for the development of our children's, youth and family ministries. Gerry met Catherine on the North West Ministry Training Course; they married in 2006 and now live in Morecambe with Jack their baby boy.

He was brought up in South East London, and then spent several years in Oxford, studying at and working for the University. (During this time he lived in C. S. Lewis' house!) He then moved to Wilmslow to work for St John's church and then trained at Oak Hill Theological College.

He enjoys spending time with Catherine, a decent pub, a decent Saturday paper, a decent pint and a decent sausage sandwich - preferably all at the same time. He is an armchair fan of Chelsea football club, and is now also keeping an ear out for Morecambe.

Student Worker: Felicity Hargreaves

Flick Square (images)Felicity is married to Steve and grew up on a farm in Zimbabwe, but moved to England when she was 16. She went to Exeter University, where she studied French and English Law. Her final year was spent in Rennes, which is now her favourite French city!

Felicity grew up in a church going family, but only became a Christian during her teens. University was the turning point for her as a Christian because during this time she got some great Bible teaching in her church and all the things she believed as a teenager suddenly became a lot clearer.

Having spent two years as a Ministry Trainee at Moorlands, Felicity now serves on the staff team helping to co-ordinate our student ministry. She enjoys a good game of squash, loves curling up on the sofa with a good book and a cup of tea (not fruit tea - ever!) and is always up for going to the cinema to see a good film.

Families Worker: Becky Byrom

Becky picBecky came to Lancaster to train as a music teacher but after finding there to be nothing less musical than a year 9 music lesson quickly left it all behind to work for the schools charity NISCU.  Having enjoyed telling young people in schools about Jesus she is really enjoying the opportunity to do that now within her own church family.

Becky likes to sing and play the piano and is almost completely dependent on tea. Other spare moments are filled with eating, watching films and taking funny photos.
