Families

It is a great privilege to have families and children in our church.  Our aim is that children might be taught and  built up in God's word, discipled and equipped as part of the church family, and that by God's grace they may ‘grow up into him...that is Christ' (Ephesians 4:15).

Because the Bible lays upon Christian parents the primary responsibility for bringing up their children in the training and instruction of the Lord, our children's ministry aims to partner with parents in that role, rather than to replace it. We believe that children are part of the church of today, not the "church of tomorrow" so there are a number of ways that we seek to integrate our children into the life of the church.

During the first part of our main meeting on Sunday mornings both the children and adults spend time together, singing and sharing in the gathering of the church.   During the Bible talk, children from ages 0-14 have their own age appropriate Bible teaching programme, known as "Grub Groups" and "Real Food Micro" (for years 7-9).

Our desire is to make sure that the Bible is well taught to every age group that is part of our church.   This means that it will be:

  • taught by godly and well trained leaders
  • taught at an age appropriate level
  • taught in an environment that is safe, fun and conducive to learning

In addition, Grub Groups and Real Food Micro/Nano groups aim to provide children with a supportive Christian peer group and opportunities to invite non-Christian friends to hear the good news of Jesus.  Each term every Grub Group and Real Food group holds at least one social event and normally one evangelistic event as well.

All our children's ministry leaders and helpers have been trained and police checked in accordance with our child protection policy.  If you'd like to read the child protection policy click here

Our children's and young people's ministry is overseen by our Assistant Minister, Gerry Straker.  If you have any questions please get in touch.
