New to Lancaster
Lancaster is a dynamic city with two universities and lots of movement of people in and out of it. With a population of only 46,000, the city that often feels a bit like a large village, but a welcoming one. We regularly have new people at Moorlands church who have just moved into the area and want to check us out.
Moorlands Evangelical Church has been part of Lancaster since 1930 when a group of Christians began meeting in a building in the Moorlands area of the city. After a number of years of declining numbers a radical fresh start and change of direction was needed and was made possible by the appointment, in March 2005, of Moorlands' first full time pastor, Danny Rurlander.
Moorlands is now a growing congregation of like-minded Christians seeking to tell many people in the Lancaster area the good news about Jesus Christ. We also just launched our first church plant in September, Church by the Bay, a new church in the centre of Morecambe.
