New to Moorlands Church
Find out about us
It can be extremely daunting walking into a new church for the first time, whether you are used to church or new to the whole experience. At Moorlands we want to do our best to make it as easy as possible to settle in, to get to know people, and to get involved.
What to expect on a Sunday Morning
Firstly we hope you feel very welcome, from the moment you come. Whether you've just moved to Lancaster, are starting University or have decided to find a church for some other reason, we hope you'll feel relaxed and at home. Our Welcome Team will be on the door to greet you, and will direct you to where you can grab a cup of tea or coffee as people are arriving.
During the central part of our main meeting we sing a mixture of contemporary and classic songs which are chosen to engage both mind and emotions in response to the Word of God; we hear about and pray for church family news, interviews and updates on ministry and mission in which church members are involved, and we listen to a talk on a passage of the Bible. The children are with us for the first part of the meeting and then, during the Bible talk, they meet in their own "Grub Groups" for age appropriate Bible teaching.
We also have refreshments after this formal part of the meeting, so there should be plenty of opportunities to start getting to know people. If you have any questions at all about Moorlands then feel free to speak to one of the Welcome Team, a church leader or staff member, or any member of the church. Alternatively contact us by email with any questions or comments.

What's on for the rest of the week
We encourage all our members and regulars to be part of a small group Bible studies which we call Real Food. Our students have their studies on a Sunday evening along with a meal and a short talk, we call this Real Food for Students. For the rest our church family they happen mid-week, usually on a Thursday night, meet in members homes and welcome new people throughout the year. This year we'll be looking at Mark's Gospel.
For young people in years 7-9 we have Real Food Micro on a Wednesday afternoon. It's an hour and half of toast, hot chocolate, crazy games and Real Food - some fun time studying the Bible together.
In addition, there are various ways you can find out more so you can begin to feel part of things from the start. Have a look at the Welcome Desk on a Sunday morning where you will find lots of information about what's happening. We have regular church family lunches to enable us to get to know each other better and also regular newcomers' morning tea to explain a bit more about who we are. In addition we run a short course each term called "Membership Matters" which explains much more about what it means to join a local church and how to get involved.
