Internationals

Our Vision for Internationals

Lancaster is a lively and increasingly cosmopolitan city, but like any city it can be a daunting place for people who have come from overseas. If this is you, we would like to welcome you to Lancaster and to Moorlands!

Moorlands is a church for everyone, whatever your background, and we aim to make Moorlands a church family where those from other cultures will be welcomed and cared for, taught clearly from the Bible, and stretched and equipped for a lifetime of following Jesus. We hope that you will quickly feel at home amongst us.

What’s on for internationals

Sundays at 10.30am

This our our main meeting at The Sixth Form Centre, Ripley St Thomas C of E High School, Ashton Road.

Our main church family meeting where we hear and respond to God’s word together. As well as clear Bible teaching and contemporary music, we also allow plenty of time to get to know each other over coffee.  Click here for this term’s Bible teaching programme.

Real Food

International Real Food LogoWe also encourage internationals to go along to International Real Food, a weekly Bible study group for internationals which takes place on Sunday lunchtimes during term time. Real Food takes place after the main church family meeting at the Sixth Form Centre, Ripley St Thomas C of E High School, Ashton Road in October. We start at  12:30pm and normally finish around 2.30pm. Lunch is provided.

Real Food is for everyone - whether you are a committed Christian, or just investigating Christianity for the first time.  The Bible studies are a great opportunity to make friends, to practice speaking English, and to find out more about Jesus and His claims.  Please contact us for more information about International Real Food.

Transport

We offer transport from Lancaster University campus to our Sunday morning meetings. Cars pick students from the covered walway on Southwest Campus at 10am for the Sunday morning meeting and will take you back to campus after Real Food. For more information email transport@moorlands.org.uk.

Find Out More Courses for Internationals

If you are investigating the message of Jesus for the first time we run some enquirers' courses for international students. They are also a great way of making friends and practicing English!

For more information about these courses click here.

Lunches and outings

As part of the Real Food programme, there will be occasional outings or activities, such as going for a walk in Arnside, visiting Heysham point and the Morecambe promenade, playing board games or walking to Williamson Park. Once a month in term time and every Sunday during October, Internationals will join with other students and non students from the church family for our Student Lunches. These are opportunities to get to know each other better and to get to know other members of our church family.
