Support Us

Moorlands is a growing congregation of like-minded Christians seeking to tell many people in the Lancaster area the good news about Jesus Christ. We are still in the early days of our new start which began in 2005, and still depend on external support, both in prayer and finance, for our growth and ministry. Because of the make up of our church, and our ministry among students, full time wage earners make up a minority of the congregation. As well as the generosity of members we depend on the additional support of trusts, churches and individuals who share our vision.
If we are to continue to grow this work we need to grow our income, especially that which we spend on student ministry.
Support our growing and strategic student ministry
Moorlands is privileged to have a strategic ministry among students. Our aim is to help students to make the most of their time in Lancaster by enabling them to play an active role in a church where they are well taught and built up and then sent out from here with a desire to serve Christ for the rest of their lives - and better equipped to do so.
We believe that the local church is the best place to train and resource Christians to reach out to others on campus and we encourage students to be actively involved in the CU in order to see the gospel proclaimed to other students in the city.
In recent years we have been thrilled, in God’s kindness, to see our student prosper and to see many of our student members grow spiritually as God’s word is taught. We have also been delighted to take on a number of our graduates as Ministry Trainees, and to send them out into the harvest field better equipped to serve God.
We believe that this is a hugely strategic ministry and pray that under God it might produce much fruit that will last.
Please consider whether you are able to support this work. We hope that many who share our vision, including former Lancaster graduates and parents of present Moorlands students, will want to support this vital work among students in Lancaster. 100 monthly gifts of £25 per month would raise £30,000 which we urgently need to make up our shortfall in income.

What people said about the new start for Moorlands:
"Danny worked alongside me for three years in pastoral ministry. In that time I came to appreciate the faithfulness and clarity of his Bible teaching, his evangelistic heart and his ability to build people up for Christian service. In the North West Partnership we want to see Bible teaching churches throughout our region. I have no hesitation in commending Danny, and his family, for this gospel work in Lancaster. He seems to me to be the right man, in the right place at the right time."
Justin Mote, Chairman, North West Partnership
"Danny and Emma's move to Lancaster is a huge answer to prayer. I cannot emphasize strongly enough the need for an independent church work there that will resonate and ‘connect' with students on a cultural level and at the same time provide a robust model of expository preaching and biblical evangelism. I urge you, if at all possible, to get behind this strategic ministry in prayer and financial support.
Ken Cowen, While NW Team Leader, UCCF
"It is great news that Danny and Emma are coming to Lancaster to lead the church at Moorlands into a new phase. I know that Danny is committed to teaching God's Word both to Christians and non-Christians and a church with this emphasis can only be good for God's work in the city. We at Parr Street Church in Kendal look forward to welcoming him and his family back to the area and to working closely with him."
Brian Maiden, Pastor, Parr Street Evangelical Church, Kendal
"I am giving thanks to God for the news that Danny and Emma are moving to Lancaster to bring a more focused gospel ministry to the students, adults and children of Lancaster. These hard-working, gospel minded friends will preach the Word with conviction, and plant and nurture Evangelical faith for the next generation. Join with me in praying for them and supporting them in this new vent ure."
Tim Thornborough, Publisher, The Good Book Company
"I'm thrilled to be involved in this exciting new ministry. The need for the gospel in Lancaster is very great, as is the scale of the opportunity for gospel ministry, so it's crucial to have people in the city who love those who live there, who are committed to God's word and well-equipped to handle it. The partnership between Moorlands and the NWP is a wonderful initiative, and I can't wait to see how God will work in and through the church!"
Nathan Weston, PhD Student, Lancaster University
"Clear gospel ministries, expounding God's unchanging word for our confused world, are needed all over the UK. I believe that Moorlands will benefit from Danny Rurlander's gifted teaching and become a source of God's light and love in the whole area. I warmly commend this exciting development."
David Jackman, Director, Cornhill Training Course, London
"With its ever-growing student population, Lancaster has been crying out for an expository Bible teaching ministry which is culturally accessible to young adults and their families. Moorlands appointment of Danny Rurlander as their pastor to this end is a tremendous encouragement to those of us in the Lancaster area who long to see this generation transformed and nourished by the truth of God's word. I am very excited about this."
Paul Baxendale, Minister St. James, Burton and Holy Trinity, Holme
"Danny worked with us in the Department of Evangelism of the Diocese of Sydney in his final year at Moore College in 2001. I often heard him preach. He is a fine evangelist and is thoroughly biblical in his approach to this work. He can be trusted to point people to the Lord Jesus Christ in an accurate and relevant way. Both Danny and Emma are fine Christian people and I have no hesitation to commend both them and their work. My prayer for this new venture is that God will use them to bring many people to Christ."
John C. Chapman, Evangelist
"It is with genuine excitement that I commend the initiative taking place in Lancaster under the leadership of Danny Rurlander. This country needs new congregations throughout its length and breadth, and university cities like Lancaster are strategically vital to the cause of the gospel in our nation. I am truly encouraged by the robust confidence shown by those involved in God working graciously and significantly through his Word proclaimed and lived by his people. How can we do anything other than support this good work in whatever way we can?"
Steve Timmis, The Crowded House, Sheffield
