Lancaster is a lively and growing city, but like any city it can be a daunting place for people who have come from overseas. If this is you, we would like to welcome you to Lancaster and to Moorlands!
Moorlands is a church for everyone, whatever your background, and we aim to make Moorlands a church family where those from other cultures will be welcomed and cared for, taught clearly from the Bible, and stretched and equipped for a lifetime of following Jesus. We hope that you will quickly feel at home with us.
International Real Food
Tuesdays — 6-8pm
We meet on Tuesday nights for International Real Food (IRF), at the Cathedral Community Centre, just down the road from our church office. IRF is a place for you to make new friends and enjoy a meal together, but the highlight of the evening is spending time studying the Bible in small groups. There are Mandarin-speaking groups, as well as English-speaking groups. And there are groups for Christians and for those investigating Christianity.
Church on Sunday
Sundays — 9.30am & 11.15am
On Sunday mornings we gather as whole church family to listen to the Bible together, to love and care for one another, and to help each other live the Christian life. No matter where you're from or what your understanding of Christianity is, you would be welcome to join us on any Sunday at Moorlands. If you are new to living in Lancaster, church is a good way to meet new people. It is also a great place to find out about the message of Jesus Christ. We start with tea and coffee together half an hour before the meeting begins, and during the first academic term we also offer lifts from Lancaster University campus. Please visit our Sundays page for more information.
Throughout the year at International Real Food and on Sunday afternoons there will be lots of training for Christians as you prepare for returning home. This includes Bible handling, evangelism, and what church is.
Lancaster is in a beautiful part of England, and throughout the year we have several outings to make the most of our surroundings. There are outings every month or so.
Being away from home and family can be difficult. We want to help you settle in to life in the UK and so we offer overseas friends the opportunity to have a local home. We will link you up with a family at church who can look out for you and have you over for food once in a while.
