Saturday 21st April
Life in the Last Days
In Real Food this term we've seen that Jesus says "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it." (Mark 8:34-35)
Yet we thought at MYC this year that God's wisdom for his world is "That there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil" (Ecclesiastes 3:12-13)
How do we reconcile this tension as we live for the kingdom in these last days before Jesus returns?
Are we to live long-suffering, sacrificial lives for the gospel without pleasure in God's creation?
Or, should we limit our sacrifice and suffering for the sake of comfort and joy in the good world that God has made?
At our Weekender in April we will begin to answer some of these questions. Please join us!
We'll be meeting at Church By The Bay's new building in Morecambe, but will provide lifts from Dumbarton Road.
We will be getting lunch from a local fish and chip shop, which we will enjoy on the prom. The cost of the day depends on what you'd like for lunch. If you'd like chips it will be £4, sausage and chips £5, or fish and chips £7. This price also includes an evening meal.
Please select Tithe.ly payments to pay.
